Getting started
Is it really free to list?
Yes. Listing your items on WeBuyThat is completely free. There's no signup fee, no listing fee, no commission, and no payment required at any point. You submit your items, we match you with local buyers, and any cash you receive from a sale goes directly to you. WBT makes money from buyers paying small referral fees, not from sellers.
How do I submit my items?
Submitting takes just a few minutes. Tell us what you're selling by choosing categories and adding short descriptions, share your location, choose how you'd like pickup to work, and enter your contact info so buyers can reach you. You can also upload photos to help buyers get a clear sense of what you have.
What happens after I submit?
Once your submission is in, we immediately match it against our network of local buyers in your area. Buyers whose preferences include your categories receive a real-time email alert with your item details, location, and photos. When a buyer claims your referral, they receive your contact info and reach out directly to arrange the rest.
What kinds of items can I list?
Just about anything new or used. Furniture, appliances, electronics, tools, antiques, collectibles, sporting goods, musical instruments, vehicles, baby and kids items, books, toys, home decor, yard and garden equipment, designer clothing, full estate lots, and storage unit contents. If you're not sure whether something fits, list it anyway. We have an Other category for anything that doesn't slot neatly into the main ones.
Are there things I can't list?
A few. We don't accept listings for weapons, hazardous materials, live animals, stolen property, anything that requires special licensing to transfer, or anything illegal in your state. Beyond those, almost anything goes. If you're unsure about a specific item, reach out and we'll let you know.
Can I list items if I'm not sure they're worth anything?
Absolutely. Buyers on WBT include resellers, flippers, collectors, and dealers who often see value in items the original owner wouldn't expect. Old tools, scrap appliances, vintage clothing, and "junk" furniture all routinely get claimed. List it and let the buyers decide. The worst case is nobody bites and you're no worse off than before.
Can I give items away for free?
Yes. If you just want items gone and don't care about getting paid, mention "free" in your item description. Some buyers will jump on free items, especially when there are multiple things to take in one trip. It's a great option for sellers who'd otherwise haul stuff to the curb or pay for removal.
Can I list my asking price?
Yes. If you have a specific price in mind, just include it in your item description. For example: "Solid oak dresser, asking $200" or "Tool collection, $500 for everything." Buyers will see your price when they review the referral. Just keep in mind that if you price too high, buyers won't reach out. If you want it gone fast, price it low to move quickly. Adding "willing to negotiate" is a great conversation starter and signals you're open to working out a deal.
I need it gone yesterday. What do I do?
A few things help when you're working against a deadline. List everything in one submission rather than spreading it across multiple posts. Be upfront about the urgency in your descriptions, something like "moving Saturday, everything must go" works well. Price aggressively or mark items free if you just want them out. And consider offering a bulk discount for someone who'll take it all in one trip. Motivated buyers love motivated sellers.
Buyers and offers
Who sees my submission?
Active buyers in our network whose service area covers your ZIP code and whose category preferences match what you're selling. We may also post previews on our social media channels showing photos, city, and state, but never your contact information. Your name, phone, and email aren't shared until a buyer specifically claims your referral.
Who are the buyers?
Buyers on WBT are local resellers, flippers, antique dealers, collectors, estate buyers, storage unit auction buyers, etc. They've signed up specifically to be matched with sellers like you. Each one tells us what categories they're interested in and what area they cover, so the people who see your listing are actively looking for exactly what you have.
Can multiple buyers be interested in my items?
Yes. Multiple buyers can claim the same referral, which means you may hear from several interested parties. This works in your favor. The more interest your items generate, the more options you have to choose from. You're under no obligation to sell to any specific buyer.
How quickly will buyers contact me?
It varies. Some sellers hear from a buyer within minutes of submitting. Others may wait a day or two depending on how active your area is and what categories you've listed. Once a buyer claims your referral, they typically reach out within a few hours. If you haven't heard from anyone after a few days, you can resubmit with a lower asking price or items marked free to get more interest.
Do I have to accept any offer that comes in?
No. You're in complete control. Buyers contact you, but the decision to sell, negotiate, or pass is entirely yours. WBT doesn't get involved in your transactions. If a buyer's offer doesn't work for you, just say no and wait for the next one or move on.
Will I get top dollar for my items?
Probably not, and that's by design. Sellers on WBT are typically prioritizing speed and convenience over squeezing out every dollar. You're selling to buyers who handle pickup and finalize quickly. That service has real value. Add it up: cash plus fast service equals a great deal for everyone, even if the per-item price is lower than you might get after weeks of haggling on Marketplace.
Logistics and pickup
Do I have to deliver, or will the buyer come to me?
You choose. The submission form asks how you'd like pickup to work, with three options: buyer comes to you, you deliver to the buyer, or either works. Most sellers choose "buyer comes to me" since it's the easiest. Whichever option you pick is shown to buyers in your alert, so they know what to expect before they reach out.
How do I update or remove my listing?
To update your listing, just submit it again with the changes you want. There's no formal remove option, but it isn't really needed. Stale listings naturally stop generating interest after a couple days, so if your items are gone, they'll quietly fade out on their own.
Listing best practices
What are the best practices for getting buyer interest?
A few things make a real difference. Take clear, well-lit photos from multiple angles. Write detailed descriptions including brand names, dimensions, age, and condition. Be honest about flaws since buyers appreciate transparency. Price competitively or mention you're open to negotiation. And submit during typical waking hours when buyers are actively checking their inbox.
How do I take good photos for my listing?
Use natural daylight when possible, near a window works great. Take photos from multiple angles including any details, labels, or flaws. Include a wide shot showing the whole item plus close-ups of important features. Avoid blurry photos, harsh shadows, and cluttered backgrounds. Buyers scroll through hundreds of listings, so clear photos help yours stand out.
How detailed should my item descriptions be?
The more detail, the better. Include brand names, model numbers, dimensions, materials, age, condition, and any flaws. For furniture, mention the type of wood. For appliances, note whether they work. For electronics, list specs. Buyers pay a small fee to receive your contact info, so the more they know upfront, the more likely they are to claim.
Special situations
Can I sell a whole estate or storage unit at once?
Yes, and these are some of the most popular listings on WBT. Estate buyers, liquidators, and storage unit auction buyers actively look for bulk lots. Just submit everything in one listing, mention "estate lot" or "whole storage unit" in the description, and include photos of the major pieces or the overall contents. Bulk buyers prefer one-trip deals, which often means a faster sale.
What's the easiest way to clear out an estate?
Submit the entire contents as one listing under the Estate and Household Lots category. Include photos of the larger items and a general overview of what's there. You don't need to inventory every single item. Mention in your description if there's a deadline. Estate buyers on WBT often make offers for the whole lot, which saves you the work of sorting and selling piece by piece.
How do I sell items from a storage unit?
List the contents as a single submission under Storage Unit Contents. Photos of what's inside the unit help a lot, even if it's just a few wide shots. Storage unit buyers are used to evaluating mixed lots and will often take everything in one trip. Mention any deadlines, like a unit auction date or a lease expiration, so buyers know they need to act fast.
How do I sell everything in one go when I'm moving?
Submit one listing with all your items grouped by category. Mention your move date in the description so buyers understand the urgency. Many WBT buyers handle full-home clearouts and will take everything in one trip, which can be the fastest and easiest way to wrap up before moving day. Bonus: a single comprehensive listing tends to attract more serious buyers than scattered partial listings.
Comparisons and alternatives
Why should I list here instead of Marketplace, Craigslist, or a yard sale?
WBT is built specifically for sellers who want their items gone quickly without the usual hassle. You list once, and your items go straight to local buyers who've signed up because they want what you have. No back-and-forth with tire kickers, no haggling over $5, no strangers showing up unannounced, no setting up tables in your driveway. Just motivated buyers reaching out directly to arrange pickup.
How does WeBuyThat compare to Facebook Marketplace for sellers?
Marketplace puts your listing in front of everyone, including time wasters, lowballers, and ghosters. WBT only matches you with buyers who've specifically signed up for your categories and your area. Marketplace requires you to chat, negotiate, screen buyers, and often relist when deals fall through. WBT delivers your listing to interested buyers in one shot.
How does WeBuyThat compare to Craigslist?
Craigslist works, but it's a guessing game. You post and hope the right person sees it before it gets buried by newer listings. WBT actively pushes your listing to local buyers who've signed up for what you have. Less waiting, less spam, less risk of strangers showing up. And you control the conversation since buyers reach out to you directly.
Is WeBuyThat better than a yard sale or garage sale?
In a lot of ways, yes. You skip the setup, the early-morning hagglers, the leftovers, and the weather worries. And it works just as well for smalls as it does for furniture. Plenty of WBT buyers specialize in collectibles, vintage items, books, records, and other smaller pieces. You list once and motivated buyers come to you, instead of you sitting in your driveway hoping the right person walks by.
Selling specific items
Where can I sell used furniture quickly?
WeBuyThat is built for exactly this. Furniture is one of our most active categories. Submit your pieces with photos and dimensions, and we'll match you with local furniture flippers, resellers, and antique dealers who actively buy used furniture. Mention condition details that buyers care about: any stains, smells, pet history, or whether it's from a smoke-free home. Most sellers hear from interested buyers quickly, especially for solid wood pieces, mid-century, and quality brands.
What's the best way to sell appliances I'm replacing?
List your appliance on WBT with the brand, model, age, and working condition. Local buyers include appliance resellers, used appliance stores, and DIY flippers who refurbish and resell. Even non-working appliances often have value for parts buyers. Mention pickup logistics clearly since appliances usually require a truck and an extra set of hands. If you just want a scrap appliance gone, mention "free" in the description and you'll likely find a taker.
How do I sell a vehicle without dealing with tire kickers?
WBT screens out casual browsers because buyers pay a small fee to claim your contact info. That filters out the joyriders, lowballers, and people who'll "stop by sometime" and never show. Submit your vehicle with photos, mileage, and condition, and you'll hear from buyers who are actually serious about purchasing.
How do I sell antiques without going to an auction house?
WBT connects you directly with local antique dealers, collectors, and resellers who actively look for pieces in your area. No commission, no consignment wait, no transporting items to a gallery. Submit photos and any background you have on the piece, and let buyers reach out with their offers.
Where can I sell tools and equipment fast?
Tools and equipment are one of the most consistently active categories on WBT. Contractors, DIY flippers, and tool resellers actively watch for new listings. Include brand names, condition, and any specs. Sets and full toolboxes do especially well since bulk buyers can take it all in one trip.
What's the fastest way to sell stuff I no longer need?
WBT is purpose-built for fast, low-hassle sales. Submit everything in one listing, include clear photos and honest descriptions, and price competitively. Local buyers receive your listing in real time and reach out directly. The whole process from submission to pickup often happens within a few days, sometimes the same day.
Trust and legitimacy
Is WeBuyThat.com a scam?
No. WBT is a legitimate platform operated by Referrals For America Inc, a registered corporation based in Minnesota. We connect sellers with local buyers for free, and we make our money from buyers paying a small referral fee to receive your contact information. Sellers never pay anything. Our terms of use are publicly posted and our contact details are easy to find.
